Battlezone Gold





Following the release of Battlezone VR as a PSVR exclusive the team was reduced in size as members moved to a variety of other internal projects. I was promoted in recognition of my work on the VR version of the game and remained on the Battlezone team as the designer responsible for guiding the project towards a wider release on non VR platforms.

We provided 12 months of bug fixing and extra content including new missions, maps, weapons, tanks and cosmetics. I built the majority of this new content myself including a special "retro" mode that emulated the classic vector based arcade game in aesthetics, gameplay and controls. I also performed a full rebalance of the live game (adjusting over 140 weapons) based on assessment of analytic data from the live game.

These updates where collected and packaged as Battlezone Gold. Battlezone Gold was released as an update for the PS4 version of the game and a standalone boxed product for PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Pleasingly this work was well recieved and Battlezone Gold currently holds an opencritic rating 10 points higher than its previous VR incarnation.
